There are a total
of 6 SKILL POINTS that can be earned, and then assigned in
the game. For each skill point obtained you will also receive
a trophy. These trophies are then placed in the trophy room
and can be viewed there. The 6 earnable skill points are
as follows.
1. Reaching 10 hours
of play time.
2. Reaching 100 points
for the profile. (Reaching Master Hunter Rank)
3. Taking at least
1 Trophy Buck in each of the 5 Species. ( Mule Deer, White
Tail, Black Tail, Axis, Roe)
4. Taking at least
1 RECORD BOOK Trophy Buck in each of the 5 Species.
5. Taking at least
1 WORLD RECORD Trophy Buck in each of the 5 Species.
6. Earning “GOLD
SKINS” on ALL 14 Weapon types.
A gold Skin is obtained
by taking a certain number of bucks with that weapon type.
The number of bucks seems to vary but is usually around 10
to 14 bucks. You will receive a message that you have obtained
the Gold Skin for the weapon when you have taken the required
number of bucks for that weapon type.
This is perhaps the
toughest, and least often obtained, of the 6 earnable skill
points. The following information should help in understanding,
and obtaining it.
Gold Skins:
First of all to find
out what the 14 weapon types are, follow these steps.
On the main DH2005
screen click on the GEAR button. Next, under WEAPONS click
on CUSTOM. You should now have a window open that shows the “Weapons
List”. On the left hand side of this window, about
half way down, you will find a heading entitled “Type”.
Under this heading are listed the 14 basic weapon types that
you will need to earn “Gold Skins” for in order
to obtain the Gold Skin Skill Point.
If you would like
to apply the Gold Skins to your weapons (Have them appear
Gold in the game), open the ‘Weapons List” as
described above. Select the Weapon you have earned the Gold
Skin for on the list directly under the Weapons List heading.
If you have set up Custom Weapons there may be more than
one Weapon of that type available. Select the one you wish
to apply the Gold Skin to. Now go to the bottom box under “Skins”,
this will be the one that looks like a round ball. This is
the skin selector for the metal parts of the weapon such
as the barrel, receiver, etc. Click on the arrows under the
ball until you get the one with the Gold coloring. This will
only be available if you have earned the Gold Skin for the
selected weapon type. You can now close the Weapons List
and return to the game. The Weapon should now appear with
Gold Skin on all metal areas. Note: You do not need to apply
the Gold Skins in order to receive the Gold Skin Skill Point.
You only need to earn all 14 of them.
One final bit of
information on the Gold Skins; Once you have earned all 14
Gold Skins for a profile, and the Gold Skin Skill Point,
you generally need only earn 3 or 4 Gold Skins on additional
profiles in order for them to all kick in and for the Skill
Point to be received on the new profile. I have no idea how
or why the game does this but I am glad it does, as it is
indeed a hard one to earn.
